Glendullan is a Speyside single malt distillery in Dufftown, one of the best-known whisky towns in Scotland. Founded in 1897 by William Williams & Sons, it was built during the late-Victorian whisky boom and became one of Dufftown’s original “Seven Stills”, with production beginning the following year.

Today Glendullan is owned by Diageo and remains an important working distillery, with much of its spirit used in blended Scotch. Its single malt identity is most visible through The Singleton of Glendullan, originally developed with a particular focus on the North American market, while older official releases and independent bottlings have also helped show the distillery’s character more directly.

The whisky is typically smooth, fruity and approachable, with notes of apple, pear, honey, vanilla, malt, orange peel and gentle spice. Mature or richer cask-influenced bottlings can add more dried fruit, toffee, polished oak and soft nuttiness, while retaining the rounded Speyside style that makes Glendullan well suited to blending.

Glendullan’s interest lies in the way it bridges scale and subtlety. It is a substantial modern producer rather than a small cult distillery, yet its best single malt releases show a graceful, easy-drinking Speyside character with enough depth to stand apart from its quiet role in blends.
