Accessibility Statement
How Whisky Marketplace approaches accessibility, the standards we aim for, and how to report a problem.
Our commitment
Whisky Marketplace is committed to making whisky price comparison usable for as many people as possible, including users of assistive technology. We treat accessibility as part of how the site is built, not an optional add-on.
Standards we aim for
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This is the level referenced by the UK Equality Act 2010 and the EU Accessibility Act, and it is widely accepted as the baseline for inclusive web design.
We are not yet able to claim full conformance. The site is under active development and some areas are still being improved.
What is accessible
We have designed the site so that, on most pages:
- pages can be navigated and operated using a keyboard alone;
- interactive elements have visible focus styles;
- text has sufficient colour contrast against its background;
- product images have descriptive alternative text;
- structured data and semantic HTML help screen readers describe pages accurately;
- forms and controls have associated labels.
Known limitations
We are aware that some areas may not yet meet the standard we are aiming for. These include:
- some retailer-supplied product images that lack descriptive alt text;
- some interactive filter controls that we are still refining for screen reader use;
- some legacy content imported from earlier versions of the site that has not been re-checked.
We are working to address these. If you encounter a specific problem, please tell us. It helps us prioritise.
Reporting a problem
If something on the site is hard to use with assistive technology, or if you cannot access content that you need, please email us at accessibility@whiskymarketplace.com. Please include the page URL and a brief description of the problem. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five working days.
