Loch Lomond is a Highland Scotch whisky distillery in Alexandria, close to the southern end of Loch Lomond. The present distillery dates from the 1960s, although the name has older regional associations, and it has become one of Scotland’s most versatile whisky producers.
Owned by Loch Lomond Group, the distillery is unusual for the breadth of spirit it can make on one site. Its combination of traditional pot stills, straight-neck stills and grain stills allows it to produce single malt, single grain and blended Scotch, as well as several distinct malt styles under names such as Inchmurrin and Inchmoan.
The Loch Lomond single malt range includes approachable core expressions alongside 12, 14, 18 and older age-stated releases, with a house style often built around orchard fruit, honeyed malt, vanilla, soft spice and a measured thread of smoke. The wider portfolio shows more variation, from lighter, fruitier malts to peatier and more robust bottlings.
Loch Lomond is a whisky of technical range rather than narrow tradition. Its strength is the ability to create varied Scotch styles with a clear Highland identity, offering accessible everyday bottlings as well as more characterful releases for drinkers who want to explore the distillery’s unusual production depth.
