Kraken is a black spiced rum brand owned by Proximo Spirits, launched in 2010 and named after the legendary sea creature of maritime folklore. Its striking dark bottle, Victorian-style label and “Release the Kraken” identity have made it one of the most recognisable modern spiced rum brands.
The original Kraken Black Spiced Rum is made from a blend of Caribbean rums and flavoured with a proprietary mix of spices. The brand has since expanded beyond its core expression, with variants such as Gold Spiced Rum and ready-to-drink serves in some markets, but the dark, spice-led original remains the central reference point.
The flavour profile is rich, sweet and bold, with notes of molasses, vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, clove, ginger, dark sugar and gentle oak.
