Glen Ord is a Highland single malt distillery at Muir of Ord, north-west of Inverness, with roots dating back to 1838. Set in a barley-growing area on the edge of the Black Isle, it has long been an important working distillery, valued both for its production scale and for the generous Highland character of its spirit.

Today Glen Ord is owned by Diageo and is one of the three distilleries behind The Singleton single malt brand, alongside Dufftown and Glendullan. The Singleton of Glen Ord has been especially associated with Asian markets, while the distillery itself has also become a significant visitor destination, supported by a modern brand home and extensive production facilities.

The whisky is typically rounded, malty and fruit-led, with notes of apple, pear, orange peel, honey, vanilla, soft spice and gentle oak. Sherry and bourbon cask influence both play a role across the range, adding layers of dried fruit, toffee, nuts and polished wood while keeping the style smooth and approachable.

Glen Ord is a Highland malt with more importance than its relatively understated name might suggest. Whether encountered as The Singleton of Glen Ord or through occasional independent bottlings, it offers a balanced, generous style that reflects both its traditional roots and its role as a major modern Scotch whisky distillery.
