Dewar’s is one of the great names in blended Scotch whisky, with origins in Perth in 1846, where John Dewar built a business around carefully selected and blended whiskies. The brand grew substantially under his sons, John Alexander and Tommy Dewar, whose international outlook helped turn Dewar’s into a global Scotch name.

Today Dewar’s is owned by Bacardi and remains closely linked to Aberfeldy Distillery in Highland Perthshire, which was founded by the Dewar family in the late nineteenth century and provides an important malt component for the blends. The wider range includes familiar expressions such as Dewar’s White Label, 12 Year Old, 15 Year Old, 18 Year Old and older prestige releases, alongside cask-finished and limited-edition bottlings.

The house style is smooth, rounded and gently honeyed, with notes of vanilla, orchard fruit, toffee, heather honey and soft oak spice. Dewar’s is also known for its “double ageing” approach, in which the blended whisky is given an additional period of marrying after the component whiskies have been brought together.

Dewar’s appeal lies in its balance of accessibility and heritage. It is a dependable blended Scotch with enough softness for simple serves and highballs, while the older and more carefully finished expressions offer greater depth for those who enjoy a richer, more polished style.
